Au Pair Agency Contact Information

THis is not really a complaint..due to the limited discussion options I decided to ask my question here...

I am looking forward to spend a year as an au pair in America.  I am doing my homework to see what agency to choose but most of the agencies does not have an email address where they can be contacted.. On their sites they only have a telephone number and calling from abroad that might become very costly!

Can someone provide me with some of the email addresses of the government approved agencies?

How to Connect with Au Pair Agencies if You are An Au Pair

Hi there, how are you?

Great question!

It sounds like you want more information about how to become an au pair?  And which agency to go with?  And how to contact them without making a phone call.  I see that from your contact information you are in South Africa.

You should not be calling the au pair agencies at their United States offices!  You should to look locally (you will have to do this eventually) at where the au pair agency's agents are in your area.  You should start on the Internet and search your town and google "local au pair agency," "want to become an au pair?" "find au pair agencies," etc.  Local travel agencies will pop up that handle recruitment of local girls for American agencies (travel agencies are very common places where agencies hire their agents).

Secondly, most au pair agency websites have pages exclusively for au pairs!  Click around and you will find the section where they explain their requirements, etc., and also you will find a contact information sheet that when you fill out, they will send you a brochure and someone will call you or email you.  They will send you to the local agent and tell you where and how to contact this local recruitment office.

Here are some examples:

Euraupair's How to Become an Au Pair page:  http://www.euraupair.com/euraupairaupair.html

AuPairCare's Au Pair page:  http://www.aupaircare.com/au-pair and check out there neat video just for prospective au pairs:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AU2pMv8plcw

Most if not all agencies have pages exclusively for prospective au pairs!  Click around and you will be sure to find information you need without having to spend a dime on an international phone call!

And, don't forget to read our article, What Au Pair Agencies Don't Tell You! (for au pairs only): http://aupairclearinghouse.com/node/104

Good luck to you and let us know which agency you finally choose!  We would love to hear about your process of applying and when you match with your American family.

Keep in touch,

Best,

Edina Stone, Founder & CEO, AuPairClearinghouse

Edina, you sure are good - you spent a lot of time answering this au pair, and if you look at her second post, she WAS an au pair already!  Here, in America.  So, I am not sure what her issue is, but she has some other agenda commenting here on the website.
