Cultural Care gets a B- From Better Business Bureau
This week, the Better Business Bureau (BBB) rated Cultural Care Au Pair Agency and gave them a B-. Their results of ratings is based on 50 customer complaints they reviewed from the internet. They identified the complaints by type (for example, refunds, service, staff performance, etc.) and how they were resolved by the agency.
Very interesting report and I am sure our readers will find it interesting as well. What we found most interesting was the BBB's results confirmed our lastest customer satisfaction survey we released last month.
Most of the complaints have to do with poor customer service and the difficulty getting refunds back from the agency. To read our a summary of the Better Business Bureau's report on Cultural Care click here.
We look forward to hearing from our readers - do you think they rated them fairly with a B-? Do you think they deserved a lower rating? A higher mark? Let us know what you think.

Suspicious Intentions
I’m troubled by what appears to me to be just one more of your attacks against this program. Not sure what your affiliation is with any other prgm, but it seems you spend an inordinate amount of time making digs on this particular one. I checked out this report and your “interpretation” is misleading. Of those 50 total complaints, 20 were resolved and the other 30 were closed by the BBB and that doesn’t mean that the company did something wrong, it means that the customer just didn’t agree with them, but the report says that the company did try to address the complaint. Also, all complaints look like they were responded to within 1 day and these complaints are over a period of 3 years. I just think that as the largest of them all, there needs to be some perspective maintained here. I know a lot of people who are happy with this program, just seems like you keep trying to attack them instead of focusing on information relative to all the companies.
Au contraire
I don't think Edina or APC is picking on CC - if anything, I find the comments and links to be very unbiased and usually the agency is deserving of the negative comments. We, as host parents, have done research ourselves, and can make better informed decisions when we have more information. Yes, lots of people are happy with CC, just as others are happy with APIA, who I have found to be awful, so it all depends on who you deal with in the agency as well as the type of problem you have as to your satisfaction with the handling and outcome.
so many complaints!
I was so shocked and surprised to hear how many complaints this agency had on the internet. If you have the Better Business Bureau checking up on you, it means something is not going well at your company. No matter how quickly the agency responds to the complaints, the damage has already been done in terms of destroying customer loyalty and trust.
No "suspicious" Intentions and "doth protest too much?"
Hi JenkinsM,
I have no hidden agenda when I report facts and reviews on our website.
As far as the review done by the Better Business Bureau, it stands on its own merits and their report supports our latest customer survey.
www.aupairclearinghouse.com is consumer website, so the nature of our company is to report current trends, news stories, negative and positive reviews, etc. of any and all au pair agencies.
Cultural Care seems to be in the media more than the other agencies (through their own making) and this is why www.aupairclearinghouse.com may have more reports and commentary on this particular agency compared to the other 11 au pair agencies.
The same is true for the internet as a whole - there are more complaints about Cultural Care on the entire world wide web than any other au pair agency in the nation. We don't fabricate these news stories, we just report them.
I must say, Cultural Care bloggers can get very rude, nasty and unprofessional when someone dares say anything even slightly negative about this company. It only leads one to think and ask the question, "Why are they so defensive?"
For readers who want to examine the Better Business Bureaus' report, please click here: http://www.bbb.org/boston/business-reviews/child-care-centers/cultural-care-au-pair-in-cambridge-ma-32175/#cmpl.
Nothing we reported about the Better Business Bureau's review is misleading. The facts are clear with no room for misrepresentation. Their report not only supports our findings, it lends credibility to our lastest survey and our methods of collecting ratings.

Edina
I read the report and I think
I read the report and I think it's a fair representation of the facts as they stand by Edina.
I am a host parent through cultural care. I don't think it's fair to label all of us as "complainers" or say that we are "rude". I go out of my way to be extra kind to all host parents and others on the board.
I think every agency has issues and that presenting the facts is the "job" of this particular website, and you guys do a great job.
Just wanted to let you know that not every cultural care parent thinks that everyone is "out to get them".
keep up the good work.
Thank you PA AP Mom
Thank you PA AP mom,
I thank you for your support. I do apologize to all those Cultural Care host families about my comment. I don't think families are rude (you are an example). I don't think host families are blogging negatively at all.
I am not sure Jenkins is a host family, and we have received many comments, some of which we choose not to post, due to the nature of the language used in these posts. We feel there are LCCs from Cultural Care posting these comments. We don't think host families would be so angry and invested in counterattacking negative reports.
Thanks again! We appreciate your support and continued visits to our website.
Best,
Edina
